A Bit About Me

Sarah Tehranian is a cinematographer with over a decade of experience across Drama, Media, Television News, Documentary, and independent films. Her passion for journalism and human stories has led her to work on documentaries for BBC Panorama, Sky, ITV, Al Jazeera, and Amazon, as well as independent documentaries and feature/short dramas.

Based in London, she teaches cinematography at film schools and a range of other institutions. She also leads camera and smartphone workshops for organisations including the BBC and The Guardian, through collaborations between YouTube and industry partners. She also does event moderation and is a speaker advocating for women and female cinematographers.

Her distinctive skill is adapting creative camera kits to suit different scenarios, which she incorporates into her workshops. She is a friend of Association of Camera Operators in the UK (ACO).

Working as a freelance cinematographer on a variety of projects, including short and long-form content, documentaries, music videos, corporate videos, reports, and artistic productions. I have progressed through roles such as Assistant, Grip, Spark, Gaffer, Camera Operator, and Director of Photography (DoP), adapting my responsibilities based on the needs of each project.

Teaching Cinematography (Camera and Lighting) for BA Filmmaking and Documentary modules, Tutor and Module Leader at Met Film School in London.

Workshop leader at NFTS, Creative Media Skills (CMS) and other private institutes.

Working across media and television in London and internationally, specializing in producing, filming, and directing various documentaries, reports, and interviews.
